Pollinator Fest

Our Annual Celebration of Pollinators

Pollinator Fest is our annual spring festival celebrating birds, bees, butterflies and all other pollinators (there are many!) and their incredible life giving purpose in our ecosystem. Pollinator Fest is a free community event presented by Pollinator Pathway NW, sponsored by local organizations and held each year at 21 Acres.
Attractions include information booths and vendors providing education, inspiration and quality goods (check out the list below), children’s activities, guest speakers, music, food and so much more.
Approximately 1600 people attended in 2025.

Art Contest

A highlight of Pollinator Fest 2025 was a youth art contest with a pollinator theme. There were over 80 submissions with 18 award winners. Woodinville Mayor Mike Millman presented the awards at a ceremony held during the festival. The photo gallery of artwork was on display during the day.

Garden Tours

Garden and plant tours, native plant walks, bathing walks and a Relatives Walk led by Indigenous native plant expert, Lindsey Crofoot, invited people out into the gardens at 21 Acres. Tours include the Pollinator Pathway NW demonstration gardens.

Booths

Pollinator Fest 2025 had 33 informational booths, two native plant nurseries and 14 environmentally oriented vendors. Five local volunteer organizations participated in our new collaborative booth called “Think Global, Act Local.”
Festival attendees were handed a passport that they could get stamped at each booth, and then take home a prize.
“Hello – Just wanted to thank you for a fun and informative pollinator festival. I enjoyed getting stamps (not just fun for kids) from the booths, learning about the different organizations, as well as homework to plant the seedlings and seeds. I will definitely attend next year and recommend to friends!”
“It is very rare for me to be interested in every booth at an event. Pollinator Fest is the exception. Excellent mix of vendors.”
“Great educational vendors! And the passport encouraged visiting just for education.”

Speakers

Every year we seek out interesting speakers with knowledge of ecosystems, pollinator habitat and sustainable gardening, to name just a few topics. Our recent speakers:
Sue Goetz, garden designer and author, presented “Garden Design for Bees, Butterflies and Other Good Things!” offering tips on how to design a garden that not only feeds pollinators but provides habitat for them including shelter, water, eco-friendly care and, of course, the plants!
Sue also held an afternoon workshop in which she helped participants create their garden landing spots along a pollinator’s flight path including how to color up their garden with designer combos for mini, pocket gardens, container gardens, and mixed landscape borders.
Kevin Friesen, Horticultural Manager at Woodland Park Zoo, spoke on the efforts of the Zoo to manage the their diverse habitats for pollinators.
David Montgomery, author of What Your Food Ate: How to Heal Our Land and Reclaim Our Health, gave a talk on the importance of soil preservation.
James Gagliardi, director of the Bellevue Botanical Garden gave a course on plants you can use in your own garden to support a healthy ecosystem for wildlife.
Bob Gillespie, retired entomologist, shared his insights on insects and pollinators. Bob’s goal is to help people develop pollinator habitat around their homes. Bob also shared his extensive and impressive collection of insects.
