Pollinator Fest

Our Annual Celebration of Pollinators

Pollinator Fest is our annual spring festival celebrating birds, bees, butterflies and all other pollinators (there are many!) and their incredible life giving purpose in our ecosystem. Pollinator Fest is a free community event presented by Pollinator Pathway NW, sponsored by local organizations and held each year at 21 Acres.
Attractions include advice and garden inspiration from environmental experts and advocates, as well as vendors providing quality sustainable goods (check out the list below). Also, children’s activities, guest speakers, music, food and so much more.

Art Contest

A highlight of the past two years was a youth art contest with a pollinator theme. The entries show the incredible talent and insight of all ages. Awards were presented at a ceremony held during the festival. The photo gallery of artwork was on display during the day.

Garden Tours and The Farm

Garden and plant tours, and a native plant walk, led by Indigenous native plant expert, Linzie Crofoot, invite people out into the gardens at 21 Acres. Tours include the Pollinator Pathway NW demonstration garden and spiral herb garden.
The 21 Acres farm is free to roam. Garden hosts are on hand to answer questions.

Exhibitors

Pollinator Fest 2026 had 56 exhibitors offering expertise and advice, garden inspiration, and sustainable goods. Each year, local volunteer organizations participated in our collaborative booth called “Think Global, Act Local.”
The Passport program is especially popular. A passport  stamped by exhibitors will get you a prize as you leave the festival.
“The information shared at the hummingbird panel and native plant tour was engaging and important for our current climate. Thank you for bringing folks together to share like this!”
“We look forward to the event every year! So much fun for all ages; very educational and inspirational.”
“It is very rare for me to be interested in every booth at an event. Pollinator Fest is the exception. Excellent mix of vendors.”
“Great educational vendors! And the passport encouraged visiting just for education.”
“The Native Plant Walk was amazing!”

Speakers

Every year we seek out interesting speakers with knowledge of ecosystems, pollinator habitat and sustainable gardening, to name just a few topics. Our recent speakers:
Gregory Green, wildlife ecologist and photographer, gave two packed-house talks on Hummingbird Ecology: From Ecuador to the Pacific Northwest.
Sue Goetz, garden designer and author, presented “Garden Design for Bees, Butterflies and Other Good Things!” and also offered a workshop on creating a garden along a pollinator’s flight path.
Kevin Friesen, Horticultural Manager at Woodland Park Zoo, spoke on the efforts of the Zoo to manage their diverse habitats for pollinators.
David Montgomery, author of What Your Food Ate: How to Heal Our Land and Reclaim Our Health, gave a talk on the importance of soil preservation.
James Gagliardi, director of the Bellevue Botanical Garden, offered a course on plants you can use in your own garden to support a healthy ecosystem for wildlife.
Bob Gillespie, retired entomologist, shared his insights on insects and pollinators, and displayed his extensive and impressive collection of insects.
